Sensory Tote Bags Now Available
Dear Families, We want to spread the word about another way families are supporting families at HHE. The Special Needs Advocacy Think Tank has put together a Sensory/Comfort Tote that lives between the gym and music room, and is accessible to anyone during school assemblies and evening events. The box has headphones, ear plugs, a teddy bear, bumpy seat pad, activity books and crayons, and other options for kids of all ages. We would love the help of some volunteers on Saturday, November 10 from 9 a.m. until approximately noon. Even if you can come and help for an hour or two, we would greatly appreciate it! Classroom, library, popcorn popper, Room Parent, all volunteers must turn in the required forms prior to volunteering at the school. 995 students are at risk of starting school without the supplies they need.   Can you help? This November 10th, kick it off with some friends, taste Woodinville wines and explore the holiday décor and shops at the Taste of the Holidays Wine Walk. Proceeds go to the Northshore Schools Foundation, a local 501 (c)(3) local non-profit charity that serves students and teachers in the Northshore School District located in the communities of Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville. Dyslexia Awareness Month!
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month! This is an effort to raise awareness about the learning disorder that involves difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters and other symbols. In Washington state, nearly 1 in 5 students, or about 20% of the population, is impacted by language-based learning disorders such as dyslexia. Even if it were 1 in 10 students, that would still mean about 2,200 students in our district are impacted by dyslexia. Want to learn more about dyslexia?
